Bitewings
Bitewing
views can reveal the presence of interproximal and occlusal caries,
pulp size and pulp changes, overhanging restorations, recurrence
of caries under existing restorations, improperly fitted artificial
crowns, and height of the alveolar crest. Bitewings are taken
because images of the coronal and cervical portions of both the
upper and lower teeth and the alveolar borders of a given region
are all recorded on an individual film. Films can be taken in
either horizontal or vertical dimension.
