Why
do Dentists choose to refer patients to Northwest Radiography?
Radiation Exposure:
Our radiographic equipment is inspected for safety each
year. Levels for exposure fall below the state guidelines
for all dental x-ray procedures. The Department of Radiation
Safety approves our facility designs for patient and technician
safety. Dosimetry information can be provided for each
patient/each procedure upon request. Retake percentages
are very low compared to dental practice. Retakes occur
primarily to demonstrate additional anatomical information
rather than because of technical error. Our equipment
is selected and maintained to provide the least exposure
for the greatest amount of diagnostic information.
Technical Quality:
Dentists refer patients to a professional x-ray lab for
the same reason that general dentists refer patients to
dental specialists – a referral to a professional with
focus and training. Each of our staff has completed modules
in behavioral management, radiation physics, head and
neck anatomy, and demonstrated expertise in caring for
a broad range of patient conditions. In most cases, a
NWR technician trains for two years to achieve the skills
necessary to take a full radiographic survey up to NWR
standards.
Equipment and Space Investment:
Dental imaging is changing rapidly. New imaging systems
that do not depend on traditional film/screen combinations
are now available. Images can be digitally generated,
captured and most importantly, analyzed. Upgrade and/or
replacement of office software and hardware are an increasing
part of every dental practice annual budget. NWR will
remain on the cutting edge of the dental imaging industry
by upgrading our equipment and training. NWR can centralize
expensive systems and continue to provide a state of the
art source for these tools in your practice. Leasehold
improvements for dental office space approaches an average
of $100 per square foot, and lease space costs are soaring.
By reducing the amount of space needed, or by utilizing
the space for a higher value production unit, productivity
is increased.
Long-term Relationships:
NWR opened two labs in 1982. We now operate six labs and
serve over 750 practices of all dental specialties. New
locations will be added to this network as our referral
base grows. Our goal is to start with the new dental practice
on day one and continue as an integral practice partner
through transition/retirement.
